Facades and elevations

The façade of the buildings is melodious and brings out a unified and harmonious front even though each building bears a different character and function, style and mode of construction and was probably constructed at different times during the same or different eras. The principal streets of Jaipur are well-proportioned continuous urban spaces. The staging of the front wall and its fragmentation with supporting brackets, balustrades and projections, is enormously enriching and contemporary in spirit. As a continuous façade, the receding planes and projecting balconies with end-to-end horizontal sunshades produce an exceedingly captivating sense of perspective and the unifying brown-red colour, Geru wash on the façades harmonises surfaces and makes the city sharply visible against the backdrop of hills and sky in contrast with the dazzle of the direct sun. Walking through the streets of Jaipur then is an incidence that nourishes repository of experience and therefore, contributes momentous sense to the walled city of Jaipur.
